Highway Rangers

In Autumn 2010, Norfolk County Council (NCC) introduced the Highways and Community Rangers to provide a more responsive highways service. The Rangers make regular visits to Parishes to carry out highway maintenance and ‘streetscene’ improvements requested by Parish Councils – for example clearing drainage and cleaning signs. Further information can be found on the NCC web site at:

http://www.norfolk.gov.uk/Travel_and_transport/Roads/Road_maintenance/Highway_and_community_rangers/index.htm

The Rangers next scheduled visits to us are the weeks beginning:

24 October 2011

16 January 2012

For the Parish Council to take maximum advantage of the Rangers service, we need to provide them with details of requested work at least three weeks before their scheduled visit.

So, if you are aware of any problems that are suitable for Ranger services, please use the ‘Comment’ facility on this web site, or send an email to Councillor John Groom groomj@btconnect.com. Please provide as much detail as possible about what needs to be done and the specific location where the work is required. The more we can help the Rangers, the more they can help us keep our Parish highways maintained – a ‘win-win’ situation.

Work which is known currently to be outside of the remit of Rangers includes:  Removing graffiti;  Footway patching/repair – although these can be reported and will be dealt with separately by the main Highways department.
